The IWW Markout Thread

I figured since it was done at the FPC maybe we could have one here for our feds, since markouts and exciting moments happen from time to time. I'll start with a couple.

1. Derek Dean vs. Will Locke of the Suicide Machines. A quick match, but the markout comes from the finish, as Dean puts Locke up to the top rope for what looks to be something good, but Locke reverses it into a sunset flip to get the win. Anytime I watch a reversal end a match, whether a submission or roll up, I always go "YES!"

2. Ricky Stevens Jr/Paul Kenney v. 42nd Street Drifters. Match had a 30 minute time limit and the match was going back and forth. The Drifters were busted open, so was Kenney, and it just seemed like this was going to go to a draw. I had basically resigned myself to that until Kenney hits the "Powder Kegger" NEAR the Drifters corner and gets the win at 29:15. It's always nice for something to go so long, so classic, and not go to a draw.

3. Cruz de Diablo v. Shane Clayton. Clayton is one of my favorite looking edits, even in his slight simplicity. I created him as a suplex machine and in this match he lived up to it. The markout though was twofold, one for Diablo and one for Clayton. For Clayton it was when he and Diablo were near the right corner and Clayton goes behind, hits a chicken wing suplex. Diablo gets up dazed, so Clayton hits the throwing release German to send Diablo crashing to the outside. With two suplexes, he had literally thrown the Freeweight Champion across the ring and outside. Diablo's moment came after more action and he is able to reverse Clayton's suplex attempt to give him the opening to hit his finisher for the win in what was a great match.

I checked out your results Punk, and that's definitely a markout moment. I think Akino is an AWESOME edit, and having the chance to work him in QCCW has been great. So as it stands, the AJCW and QCCW champs are teamed up for the tag tournament? Could be pretty fun there...

Alrighty, a couple new ones to add to the pyle:

July 10th "QC Clash":
<> Shane Clayton and Justin Schultz are battling it out and Schultz hooks Clayton for a vertical suplex. Clayton reverses out of it and lands behind Schultz, grabs him, and hits the "Cool Off" which CRITICALs Schultz. Schultz is face down as the ref checks on him and Clayton just looks at him like "Damn... that worked."

<> Cory Maxwell, underdog extraordinaire, challenges Lenny Ace for his TV Title. Ace has been on a tear since breaking off his tag team and turning heel, the only hiccup coming from Maxwell pinning him in an elimination match. Both men go back and forth, pretty evenly, until about ten minutes in when Ace really turns things up. He starts hitting just about everything he can to put Maxwell away, but Maxwell battles back. Ace hits the hurricane driver (his secondary finisher), but Maxwell kicks out at 2.9. Maxwell gets a short comeback hitting a reverse tornado DDT for a 2, but Ace takes the momentum back. Ace batters Maxwell again, hitting the "Action Ace" but before he can go for the pin... time limit expires. Due to TV Title rules, Maxwell does get a rematch, and he was able to hold on and not get beat.

July 15th House Show:
<> Street Fight between Charlie Potter & 42nd Street Drifters against American Nightmares and Zijum Zhao. For streetfights I use the landmine deathmatch since I can get weapons and not worry too much about forgetting to turn the bomb timer off. Everyone gets busted open in this match, but a markout moment comes when Zhao grabs Eastman of the Drifters and hits the "Zensational", but because he's so close to theropes Eastman hits the mat and falls to the outside on a landmine.

So I simmed (on 800) a match between
Kato Sekimoto (NEO) & KO Yamamoto *FREE)

It was part of a all cage match tournament and it went, well i don't know how long it went cause Fire Pro Stops counting at 99:59. So for the first time I can ever remember 2 edits went for about 3 hours in game time. It didn't even end until Sekimoto KO'd Yamamoto, and thank god I had Critical turned up to low unlike default cage matches which turn Critical off.

Wow. I still haven't had a match "break the clock" yet, but here's hoping.

I did have a small markout moment when simming the "State of the Union" card, during the Triangle Match for the QCCW Freeweight title. Everyone's hitting great moves, but the cool moment comes when Clayton and DiAngelis are battling it out. They exchange a few shots and Clayton grabs DiAngelis and Irish whips him. Meanwhile, Eric Brady is getting to his feet and I'm thinking "they're going to collide" but instead Brady hooks him into a side slam. A perfectly cool unintentional double team. What was even better was that Clayton had started to run after DiAngelis and caught Brady as he got up.

Nice little spot.

I always like it when theres 2 or more reversals that lead to a impact move. I had a edit dodge a run attack, go for a grapple, get reversed, then reversed back and hit a diamond cutter.

I haven't posted the show results yet, but I just had a markout moment this past weekend.

So, the Rock Island Renegades and Blind Dead are doing battle in tag team action. Marc Carlson and Blind Dead #2 are legal in the ring, and Carlson gets suplexed to the outside. BD #1 than drops down from the apron to put a bit of a beatdown on Carlson. Carlson reverses, hits the superkick... and CRITICALS BD #1 on the outside of the ring. BD #2 is now easy pickings for the RIR. Carlson tags out, in comes Goff who delivers some good action, then tags out to Carlson. Carlson makes his way to BD #2 who's standing dazed, they lock up and Blind Dead nails the "Gallows Calling"... CRITICAL! Ref checks Carlson, and this one is over!

Two criticals in one match, one to a non-legal guy and one ends the match for the guy who's now handicapped. It was just one of those "HOLY HELL" moments. Now it'll be interesting to see where all this goes, because the tag division is just all exciting right now. Suicide Machines and RIR are set for more showdowns and the Suicides are on a roll right now (change their attire, and they go on a win streak), while BD faces of with 42nd Street Drifters. Couple that in with Warhorses and Hell's Wolves feuding, and there's a lot of tag matches going down right now.

Goro once KO'd Mr.Togo outside the ring, then he just stood there for awhile until the countout happened. (lol)
