**This is the official news thread of Quad-Cities Classical Wrestling!!**
QCCW Goes International! <>QCCW President Matt Wintz announced today that QCCW would be embarking on two international tours in the coming months. A 3-day tour of Japan is scheduled from August 24th - 26th and a 2-day tour of Mexico is scheduled for September 26th & 27th. Wintz said "We are honored to be invited to both Japan and Mexico for a tour of QCCW action. The fact that such an outpouring of support for such a small Mid-Western promotion is humbling to all of our stars. While no QCCW Titles will be defended, we are happy to announce that both Alliance Japanese Championship Wrestling and NEO-1 have volunteered stars to our shows in Japan. We will be working with Lucha Libre MAX while in Mexico."

Rumors have spread that Cruz de Diablo and Takeshi Akino might face off again at one of these events, but Wintz was quick to dispel those rumors. "We know that many people have enjoyed the Akino/Cruz friendly feud, but for the two events that Akino is joining us, he and Cruz will be on the same team, renewing the partnership seen in QCCW, AJCW, and IWW competition."
Wintz then announced the line-up for the Japanese tour, titled "Big in Japan."

*QCCW Works Out Deal with High Energy Wrestling*
QCCW has worked out a co-promotional deal with High Energy Wrestling to showcase HEW wrestlers on both "QC Clash" TV shows and also house show events throughout QCCW's promotional radius. HEW is known on the West Coast as being a promotion that flourishes with outlandish characters, multi-person tag matches, and a relatively fan friendly environment.
High Energy Wrestling currently has no TV deal, making it's name through DVD sales, internet podcast, and internet broadcasts. Many believe this will help HEW gain some exposure in new markets while also giving QCCW a chance to have their talent interact with another promotion.
HEW is currently not affiliated with the IWW, though some of HEW talent have landed contracts with IWW promotions. No word on whether or not HEW will join IWW. QCCW and HEW plan for their co-promotional work to begin in the latter half of October 2011.

*QCCW Signs New Talent*
QCCW Owner and President Matt Wintz announced that QCCW had signed former PWP talents Bret Beverly and Mad Butcher to QCCW contracts. Mad Butcher, a man famous for his deathmatches but has found a huge fan following and cheers, has promised to come to QCCW to do war with Mike Hooke, Ian Samuels, and Critical Condition. Wintz commented that he was excited to see such matches occur, adding an edgier element to QCCW. Beverly was available for comment at the press conference. He said "I'm the hottest property in wrestling right now and I'm wrestling in farm towns!? Listen daddy-o, I'll go where the money is, but this place is going to get a real touch of class now that the West Coat Wonder is here!"
Word is that QCCW is also in the works of signing a former collegiate wrestling star, but no other details were available at press time.

*QCCW Announces Six Official Entrants for IWW Best of the Best 2*
QCCW President Matt Wintz called a press conference late tonight in which he announced six of the eight QCCW delegates for the upcoming IWW mega-tournament "Best of the Best 2." With the first bracket of the first round being held in QCCW's stomping grounds of Davenport, Iowa, Wintz was all smiles.
"First off, QCCW is proud to host a portion of the tournament again this year." Wintz said, smiling. "Much like last year, a few of our delegates were automatic selections, such as the Freeweight Champion Eric Brady and current TV Champion and former IWW World Champion, Cruz de Diablo. Also, former IWW Juniorweight Champion El Hombre Lobo and IWW Western Continental Champion Mike Hooke. These four men also did QCCW proud in Survivor's Cup this year, and all should be rewarded."
When pressed, Wintz announced for the first time two more people who would be given the shot. "Shane Clayton, our former Freeweight Champion, who also represented us in the solo cup at 'Survivor's Guilt' will be one of those two men. The second is Elliot Landen. Mr. Landen was on our Survivor's Cup team in 2010 and did extremely well, and has been quite the talk in QCCW since his debut. Him being given an international stage to show his stuff could be the biggest shot of his young career."
Wintz then went into detail about the other two empty slots. "On October 3rd, we will host our third 'Impulse' internet special. On this show, two eight-man battle royals will occur with the two winners being given the final two slots. Also, a special six-man tag with the already named competitors will main event the evening. By the end of this program, QCCW fans and the world will know who will be representing us."
The competitors of the two battle royals are listed below.
--- Battle Royal #1: Jimmy Marx v. British Invasion v. Terry Tanner v. Brian Feare v. Waterloo Warrior v. Tony Byron v. Will Locke v. Justin Schultz
Battle Royal #2: Mystery Mask v. Ian Samuels v. Scott Jackson v. Eric Constantine v. Haruo Tezuka v. Johnny Lash v. Rey de Arachne v. Joe Curtis
Official QCCW Representatives: "Boston Bad Boy" Eric Brady (current QCCW Freeweight Champion) Cruz de Diablo (current QCCW TV Champion) El Hombre Lobo "Meathook" Mike Hooke "Cool" Shane Clayton "Pure Energy" Elliot Landen

*QCCW "Showcase of the Stars VIII" Fallout, Best of the Best Designates, New Champions, and other News*
<> QCCW recently held a series of events with major implications to QCCW in the past few weeks. At the third QCCW internet "Impulse" special, former Freeweight Champions Terry Tanner and Mystery Mask won the right to round out the eight representatives for the upcoming IWW Best of the Best 2 tournament. Both champions expressed gratitude for the opportunity. The official entrants are: Cruz de Diablo, El Hombre Lobo, Shane Clayton, Eric Brady, Mike Hooke, Elliot Landen, Terry Tanner, and Mystery Mask.
<>"Showcase of the Stars VIII" is now in the record books and what an event it was. AJCW legend Kodo Akino arrived and answered an open challenge from Johnny Lash, putting the former Freeweight Champion in less than eight minutes. It has already been announced that the "QC Clash" episode on October 29th will see Kodo Akino take on Freeweight Champion Shane Clayton in a title match.
<> Also at the show, the Suicide Machines and Rock Island Renegades battled in a steel cage that saw the Machines win the match. However, the Rock Island Renegades through down a final challenge at the upcoming November supershow that celebrates QCCW's 2nd Anniversary. It has been announced that the Suicide Machines and Rock Island Renegades will meet in a "Losing Team Must Break Up" match. This will lead to a final showdown in QCCW's longest reigning feud.
<> The Midwest Express celebrated the biggest win in their short career as they pulled off the win against the 42nd Street Drifters for the QCCW Tag Team Titles. The M.E. promised to be fighting champions and have a defense against former champions Fightin' Farmers.
<> Cruz de Diablo successfully defended his title against Mystery Mask and Elliot Landen, but the huge story was Landen's actions after the match. Having been eliminated, Landen waited around until the end of the match and dropped both men with the Ax Guillotine Driver. Landen then said he was done with the fans and playing fair because that hadn't gotten anything but a losing streak. He even ignored partner Mr. Dynamic's questions, and Dynamic said he would get answers one way or another.
<> Shane Clayton won the Freeweight Title in an amazing 4-Way match to end the show. During the match, Eric Brady busted Lenny Ace open with a spinning backfist, but the young man proceeded to kick out of the "Boston Bomb" to the shock of everyone. Ace then capitalized by eliminating Brady. Clayton and Ace then battled back and forth until Clayton locked in a dragon sleeper on Ace and Ace finally passed out from the pain. Clayton then helped Ace to his feet and shook hands with him, encouraging the crowd to applaud him. Ace seemed genuinely moved by this action, and conducted an interview on QCCW's website afterward.
QCCW Informer: Lenny Ace, a hard fought battle at "Showcase of the Stars VIII" saw you come close to winning the Freeweight Title. You even eliminated Eric Brady, the champion, from the match.
Ace: I did, and it was a big moment for me.
QCCW Informer: You've been one of the most unliked wrestlers since your turning on your Action A-2-Z partner Zijum Zhao, but tonight both Shane Clayton and the fans cheered you after your performance.
Ace: And I'm shocked and touched by it. Fact is, I've done a bit in my career I shouldn't be proud of. Zhao and I have talked since he left, and I don't want to say everything's forgiven, but I do realize it was a mistake. To the fans, I just want to thank them for seeing my talent, and I hope to have a chance to redeem myself in their eyes.

QCCW Sees Several Talent Leave, and another Talent Joins... Sort of.
QCCW has come to terms with the release of Mr. Dynamic. Dynamic has talked about just returning to work as a firefighter for Waterloo, Iowa.
The Aswang recently ruptured his bicep thanks to be locked in the "Fear Cage" maneuver of Brian Feare. Aswang will need several months of therapy, and it is currently unknown if he will return.
Austin Goff was forced to leave QCCW after being the man who lost the fall in the "Losing Team Member Leaves QCCW" match between the Rock Island Renegades and Suicide Machines. His RIR teammate Marc Carlson will continue to be part of QCCW.
Finally, IWW talent and Union-Pro contracted wrestler Madison Avenue Man has joined QCCW as the manager and sometimes competitor alongside the Primetime Players. Due to IWW stipulations, his addition to the roster does NOT count toward the allowed 45 spots. QCCW is now at 41 roster positions.
QCCW has mentioned they will be looking to add talent to their roster to round out at 45 spots, but nothing past that has been mentioned.

*QCCW Signs New Talent, Creates New Show, Talks about Possible Tournament*
QCCW has recently signed several new talents recently: NCAA standout Chris Hein, Texas wrestling star Wyatt "Wild Horse" Cannon, "Big" Blake Connor, and garbage wrestler Darren "Anarchy" Arikson. These four men will be infusing QCCW with different styles that could excite fans in the Midwest.
QCCW has also added a new television show, "QC Rush" to it's weekly programming. The taped show will air on Sundays and will showcase QCCW talent for an hour. This show joins stalwart program "QC Clash" in QCCW's televised line-up. QCCW owner Matt Wintz said: "The addition of a second show is an amazing milestone for us, just as much so as reaching our second year. We are here to stay, and prove to the world we hope to remain a cornerstone of the IWW."
Also, Matt Wintz commented on a possible tournament in the near future. "We have noticed that several of our wrestlers enjoy the rougher, no rules style of wrestling. Stars such as Critical Condition, Mad Butcher, Mystery Mask, and new talent Darren Arikson enjoy matches where there are no rules. Well, QCCW is planning that in late December or the month of January to hold a tournament, open to any IWW talent, in a tournament of extreme rules. We hope that other promotions in IWW will send representatives to QCCW for this tournament, and we've already been talking with Texas Hardcore Wrestling about some of their talent. IWW talents Da Bargain Hunta, Jack Chambers, Momiji, and The Invader have already signed on for this tournament."

QCCW Rules Review - Title Matches go Old School?
During a recent meeting of the QCCW Board of Directors, it was discussed that QCCW is thinking of changing the rules of Freeweight Title defenses to a more "old school" approach: two-out-of-three falls. For decades, many title matches would be fought under these rules, and now the flagbearer of Midwestern independent wrestling is discussing a possible change to their current "one-fall" championship rule.
Matt Wintz, owner and President of QCCW said, "While we're not 100% decided, it is moving very much in that direction. TV Title matches will still be one fall, a fifteen minute time limit. There are absolutely no chances of that changing. The Freeweight Title though is the keystone title of our promotion."
The question of how multi-challenger matches, such as 4-Way matches, would be contested.
"We're still discussing it, but there's talk that these would still be elimination. Most of the time, the champion invokes their rematch clause if they are unsuccessful in defending. We want to be fair to the champion, but we don't want to discount promoting exciting wrestling." Wintz said. When asked about whether or not tag matches will be defended in this way: "We haven't discussed it, but it's unlikely."
Wintz was also asked about the "Midwest Massacre" hardcore tournament, and Wintz said it would happen "most likely in December or January." Wintz said twenty-seven wrestlers have agreed to participate, and Wintz was hopeful to get five more in order to make it a 32-person tournament. Wintz also announced how the tournament would be broken down:
*All First Round Matches are No DQ* *All Second Round Matches are Texas Deathmatch* *All Quarter-Final Round Matches are Weapons-Filled Cage Matches* *All Semi-Final Round Matches are Lighttube Deathmatches* *Final Round Match is a Barbed Wire Ring Match*
The tournament, if brought to 32 wrestlers, would be fought over three days.

*QCCW News and Rumors - Early December Edition*
<>The QCCW Reporter here with the news and rumors from the Quad-Cities' top wrestling promotion!
Cruz de Diablo injured, forced to relinquish TV Title Cruz de Diablo, who was in the midst of his second reign as TV champion, was forced to forfeit the title to Marc Carlson when he was not cleared for competition by doctors. Diablo, who suffered a concussion during his IWW Western Continental Title defense against Randy Hayes, is still approximately two weeks from a return. The TV Title, however, is under strict rules to be defended each week on "QC Clash." Carlson, who is now managed by Madison Avenue Man as part of the Primetime Players, then successfully defended against El Hombre Lobo. Diablo promised he would come back and deal with the Primetime Players once he was healthly. His current projected return is December 16th.
Tully Andrews, KC Costello tear the house down At a recent "QC Clash" episode, Tully Andrews, formerly of WKP made his way to the ring and delivered an open challenge. Andrews, who has recently signed on to help train at the QCCW wrestling school, was then answered by "The Iron Man" KC Costello. Costello is a legend in the Midwest, a tough technician who also loves to brawl. Costello and Andrews put on a twenty minute draw classic of hard hits and chain wrestling that brought the fans to their feet. Costello, who spent most of his career as a rulebreaker but has seen a popular resurgence in the last five years, said he'd love to come back again, and signed on for the "Midwest Massacre" tournament. Andrews also spoke on the QCCW website about a few more appearances he has planned through 2011.
Mystery Mask and Primetime Players going to war Mystery Mask has recently become the biggest challenge against the Primetime Players. The Players (Elliot Landen, Johnny Lash, Bret Beverly, Marc Carlson, and Madison Avenue Man) have made it no secret that they plan to rule over QCCW. Mask however is not without friends, as now other wrestlers such as Terry Tanner, El Hombre Lobo, and the Midwest Express have agreed to stay back the challenge of the Primetime Players.
Eric Brady and Mad Butcher looking to prove who is the toughest After a Freeweight Title match between them went to a bloody draw, Eric Brady has continued to scout Mad Butcher. Butcher has said he wants another shot at Brady, and fans and wrestlers alike believe it could be the stiffest, bloodiest feud in QCCW since Ian Samuels and Mystery Mask's wars.

QCCW President Matt Wintz announced the 32 competitors, along with the tournament brackets, early today. Here, for the first time officially, is the first round of the tournament.

*QCCW celebrates "QC Clash" landmark 100th episode* The flagship television show of QCCW, it's Saturday afternoon show "QC Clash" will celebrate it's 100th edition by putting on a star-packed show that rivals the cards of "Showcase of the Stars" or even it's yearly anniversary shows.
QCCW President Matt Wintz has made the official announcement of the event to be a place where many feuds are finalized. The Warhorses and Fightin' Farmers will meet in a barbed wire match while the groups of Scott Jackson, Ricky Stevens Jr., & Jerome Germany and Joe Curtis & 42nd Street Drifters meet in a match that will see one man's career in QCCW end.
Also, Eric Brady defends the Freeweight Title against Mad Butcher inside of a steel cage. "These two have faced off twice now with no clean winner and a lot of blood spilled. We will find out just who of these two is going to leave with the title" Matt Wintz said.
The Gauntlet Match that sees the entire group of Primetime Players face off with Mystery Mask, The Hell's Wolves, and Midwest Express also got the fans talking. "The rules to this match are pretty straightforward." Wintz said. "A man from each team starts the match, and when one man is beaten, the second man from his team comes in to continue the match. This will continue until one team is fully eliminated." When asked why not just have a tag match, Wintz responded: "We've seen that there is always the matter of self control during these matches, and we don't want to see a DQ finish. The ring will be surrounded by Lumberjacks who will only allow the next legal participant into the ringside area."
More matches are to be announced for this exciting show shortly.

*Title Changes and Drama Surrounds QCCW*
QCCW is fresh off it's busiest week in existence this week as the promotion celebrates both the 100th episode of "QC Clash" and the "Midwest Mayhem" three day event. This, compounded with the joint internet special with RCW, IWW events, and Cruz de Diablo's competition in the tournament to crown a new AJCW Triple Crown Champion, has seen QCCW talent all around the world competing.
The biggest story to come out of the week has been the "hot potato" Freeweight Title. At the joint event with RCW, Eric Brady lost the Freeweight Title to Bret Masters of RCW. Masters held the title for only a matter of minutes, when he made an open challenge to QCCW talent. This was answered by the man who was set to challenge Brady at "QC Clash 100", Mad Butcher. Butcher stormed the ring, hitting a piledriver on a broken wooden table and then dropping the elbow for the Freeweight Title. Just two days later, with Butcher now the defending champion against Brady in a steel cage, Brady secured the title BACK with a thunderous "Boston Bomb."
While Brady gloated, QCCW President Matt Wintz said Butcher and Brady would meet one final time in a Texas Deathmatch. Brady's response, which brought him a $15,000 fine, was a backfist to the face of the owner, busting him open. Wintz, who had competed as a wrestler for years as the face-painted hero Cage, was in need of a few stitches, but is healing well.
Also, the battle between the Primetime Players and several QCCW stars is heating up. During the Gauntlet, Marc Carlson was able to cheat his way to a pin over Cruz de Diablo, and thanks to a chair and some brass knuckles, Madison Avenue Man won the Gauntlet for his team, pinning Mystery Mask. Mask got the last laugh however, but the question is where will this feud lead?
The countdown to the New Year begins, and with it a huge change in QCCW Title matches. QCCW President Matt Wintz announced that starting January 1st, 2012, ALL Freeweight Title matches will be battled under 2-out-of-3 Falls Rules, unless a special stipulation (such as a steel cage, Texas Deathmatch, or multi-person match) occurs. This throwback to more classic rules will put an emphasis on great wrestling, and many believe that several epic matches could be seen with these new rules in place.
QCCW announced it has two more "QC Clash" shows set for the year, and a few house shows left on the schedule before 2012 is upon us. The Texas Deathmatch rematch between Eric Brady and Mad Butcher will take place on the New Year's Eve "QC Clash."

*QCCW: Old School, New Class* <>With the beginning of 2012, QCCW President Matt Wintz announced that with the new year came some old school rules officially to QCCW. All Freeweight Title matches would now be contested in 2-out-of-3 Falls matches. While any multi-man matches (such as three-way dances) would NOT be contested this way, single matches between champion and a single challenger would be. Eric Brady, when asked for comment, replied: "This gives me more opportunities to prove to QCCW that I'm the best and baddest here. Cruz de Diablo didn't defend this way, Mystery Mask, Johnny Lash... no one! And you know what? I'm okay with that."
"Queen's Crown" to be determined <>Wintz also announced that on January 20th, 2012 that QCCW would officially launch their women's division with the one-day tournament to crown the winner of the Queen's Crown title. Wintz announced that ten talents have been signed to compete in this tournament which will be a special TV event from the QCCW TV Studio in Galesburg.
QCCW and CWA come to a working agreement <>QCCW is proud to announce the acquisition of Championship Wrestling Association. The CWA promotion, which had some financial difficulties in mid-2011, had recently lost it's television contract. CWA, who ran shows in Indiana and Michigan, will now officially become a developmental territory for QCCW. QCCW has offered that starting in February, "QC Rush" will have one CWA "Showcase" match that focuses soley on CWA talent. CWA talent may also appear on QCCW house shows. QCCW will financially back CWA for house shows, approximately one every two weeks.
Wintz was announced as the new owner of CWA, and he said that all 24 CWA wrestlers were signed to contracts. He announced that due to the hiatus that CWA has been on, the CWA Championship and CWA Tag Championships had been vacated. Small tournaments for those titles would be underway at a future date. Wintz, who has a seat on the IWW Board of Directors, has also been working to see if CWA could get IWW Membership, as this would help give a financial boost, and international exposure, to the athletes of the promotion.
QCCW had once before worked out an agreement with a regional promotion, the ICWA. The ICWA was bought out by QCCW. CWA will be the first promotion that QCCW will be adopting, and many believe it's a risky adventure for the Quad-Cities promotion. QCCW has become a cornerstone of the IWW as one of its longest running and popular promotions, and has even outgrown projected business since its inception. While believed to be risky, it has also led insiders to believe it could lead to an opportunity in a boom in wrestling in the Midwest.

QCCW sees a Roster Change as Injuries Occur to Wrestlers
While results for the shows themselves are still waiting to be reported in officially, it has been announced that Waterloo Warrior's career was ended by the hands of Critical Condition after a jumping piledriver. The two men, known for their stiff style and penchant for violent matches, were locked in combat in front of a live crowd when Crit-Con hit his trademark move. Warrior landed awkwardly, forcing the referee to call the match right then and there as the ringside physician and medical personnel immediately entered the ring. Crit-Con, who is known as a blood-thirsty competitor, also looked concerned for the Warrior.
QCCW President Matt Wintz released a statement shortly after the show. "I have been informed of the injuries to Waterloo Warrior and sadly, the doctors have confirmed that they are career ending. Warrior does have full use of his extremities and has met this news with courage and disappointment, but is determined to heal. QCCW will keep fans updated."
QCCW will, as with all injuries, be paying for Waterloo Warrior's medical and physical therapy bills.
Also during a recent "QC Rush" taping, Elliot Landen received a concussion from Haruo Tezuka's "Cranium Crack." Landen will be out of action for at least a month while he recovers.

QCCW, CWA, and IWW Officials all come to an agreement
*Officials for QCCW, it's developmental territory CWA, and IWW Management have all had discussions in the recent weeks about the possibility of CWA's inclusion into the IWW. QCCW President and owner Matt Wintz, who also owns CWA and works as the IWW CFO made the official announcement.
"We are pleased to announce that the IWW will allow CWA to join its ranks, as soon as March. This is huge news for the wrestlers in the promotion, along with QCCW. QCCW has been funding CWA currently, getting the promotion back on TV and a series of house shows through Indiana and Michigan." Wintz said. "With IWW support, the one-hour CWA "Collision" TV show very well could move to two-hours a week, but we'll have to see. This also gives CWA a chance to be considered for IWW events in the future."
It was also announced that now that CWA has backing, the "Showcase" matches they had on QCCW "Rush" may be scaled back.
"We don't want to completely pull the rug out from under the talent," Wintz said. "but with the opportunity of giving them more exposure, there is a possibility that CWA Showcase matches may be a more infrequent occurrence." Wintz also had big news for the promotion: "Currently, there are 24 signed wrestlers for CWA, but we're hoping to add more here in the future, including a few former QCCW talents."
There was also a question asked to Mr. Wintz about the rumor that QCCW would be going to Spain for a special two-day tour. "We're planning on it, we're hoping to go overseas in March. We'll let you know more when we finalize everything."
